Mental Training Inc. Workshop NEXT FRIDAY (June 10)!!

We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring a FREE Mental Training Inc Workshop on Friday, June 10 at 6:30pm at the Marra Senki HQ Academy on Starcrest.

This workshop is a MUST for all competitors and fighters as well as anyone else who is serious about being the best they can be in jiu-jitsu as well as life.

Below is the workshop flier with more details on what will be covered…

“The mission of Mental Training Inc. (MTI) is to be a catalyst for success. Our team provides tools and support for athletes to strengthen their mental skills for optimal performance. The core of our work involves teaching athletes how to control their thoughts and emotions so they can perform their best when it matters the most.

Our clients receive a “cognitive” based approach that helps them control their thoughts, which affect their emotions and hence, their performance. Core concepts along with individualized activities are combined to create a personally-designed mental skills training program that gets results.
Mental Training Inc. is hosting an introductory workshop on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Marra Senki BJJ Academy in San Antonio, TX to introduce Mental Training services and to explain how Mental Training can take your game to the next level—all are invited to attend. Please call Brad Jurica, Vice President & Director of Training for details.

TOPICS addressed include:

“You are what you say you are, Positive Self-talk and Confidence Building”                        30 minutes

There are two kinds of self-talk: negative and positive. Naturally, we want athletes to increase positive and decrease negative self-talk. Negative self-talk often leads to self-doubt, anxiety, choking, and under performance. There is an old saying…In order to be successful in sports, you MUST have a short memory…What you just did and what you are about to do is NEVER as important as what you are currently “doing.” Staying present-focused is critical in the sports world and this workshop will focus on present-thinking strategies and confidence building. This is a great workshop for the younger athlete who is working hard to establish his/her athletic identity and for the more mature athlete currently struggling with performance anxiety, negative thinking, and/or self-doubt.

“Surviving the Emotional Rollercoaster: Use of the Emotion Wheel in BJJ”            30 minutes

Throughout each round of a fight, athletes consistently find themselves dealing with issues related to their emotions. Anger, frustration, disappointment, self-doubt, etc. are just a few of the many negative emotions commonly experienced by fighters of all ages and ability levels. This workshop will address these commonalities as well as teach athletes several tools they can implement to help increase self-awareness, promote cognitive growth, and perform more consistently. Skills discussed will include, but are not limited to, recognizing cognitive distortions, evaluating negative self-talk, and modifying self-talk strategies to aid in cognitive restructuring.

Thank you,
